This may seem as an understatement, as it is obvious that one has to go out into the ocean to even find a blue marlin. But, is it just as obvious that we cannot achieve a million dollar dream with a fast food mentality?
Oh, I hear the “spiritual” person say, “It must come by faith” and that is TRUE! But God does not have dominion in the earth realm, we do. God gave dominion to man in the foundation of creation and that has not changed. Man gave away his authority, but even satan has to work through the dominion of man upon the earth to accomplish his will.
God wants His children to be blessed, healthy and prospering. The reason? It shows that the goodness of God is real in a world split into two kingdoms.
So what to do…
There are several great fishing stories in the gospels where Jesus tells the boys where and how to fish. One in particular says that He told them to drop the net on the other side of the boat. A professional fisherman would say to himself “How is this going to make a difference?”
In each case Jesus was showing them the principles of His Kingdom. Each time Jesus was asking for entrance into their lives, allowing heaven’s power to affect the natural world.
Anyone can catch fish if Jesus tells them where and how to do it. Just like Peter handing over his boat for Jesus to teach from, we must hand over what little we think we have so that it can change kingdoms. Our dreams and even our desires must first come under the authority and dominion of the Kingdom of God.
Hand over your five loaves of bread and your two fish. Not to deprive yourself of provision, but to watch The Kingdom work on your behalf. Ask God for that new vision and the strength to see it through. However, be prepared for that dream to grow well beyond what you think is “reasonable.”
God is always in the business of doing exceedingly greater than what we imagine. If you have a plastic goldfish in the bathtub, start dreaming of the trip to Hawaii or Australia where the giant marlins swim.
Dream of the journey that will take you there. Dream HIS dream for you.
