You’ve probably heard some of the statistics regarding new years resolutions. Most are broken by the end of the first week. By reason of willpower, some may make it into February or March.

Why is this?

The first and obvious reason is that we carried the same “old man” of last year into the “resolution” of this new year. I’ve done it too. Somewhere in this desire to make changes, be better or do something significant, we must change the picture. Change the mental image to reflect who we are in Christ and then NOT BACK DOWN from that confession.

There may be a little time between the “amen” and the “I see it!”, but failure is an event in time, not who we are. Explore what “I can do all things through Christ” would look like if we REALLY believed it.

I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].

Philippians 4:13

What would we endeavor to do if we were absolutely convinced beyond a doubt that we have “every favor and earthly blessing in abundance so that we can be fully furnished for every good work” —2 Corinthians 9:8 (AMPC)

Would that “old man” stand a chance? Nope! He’s dead anyway.

2024 may have been filled with some hard days and serious struggles, but let us press on the mark, the high calling of Christ Jesus who has already made a way for us, and make 2025 the year of breakthrough.
