For you shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight; For the LORD will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
Isaiah 52:12
We all want to see. We want to see the plan and how things will unfold because that will ease our minds. We want the steps to take and we want the plan laid out before us. Jesus knows our hearts and our desire to do what He wants, and He understands that we don’t want to take a wrong step outside of His will for us. This is where our faith grows.
Can we wait on Jesus without stepping into what we think is the only solution? There is so much that we cannot see, so many threads that make up the tapestries of our lives… so many that overlap and intertwine to build a beautiful picture of what this life will be. We mustn’t get stuck in the fog that is this in front of us. We need to wait on Christ.
When the Son comes out, the density of the haze clears to a beautiful day that is before us. Our next step that we desperately want to take, may be to stand right where we are and wait on someone else’s step. We need to trust Jesus that He loves us and knows exactly how we feel. His arms are wrapped around us, and He wants us to stay still and feel His embrace. We do not need to rush out with haste, He will go before us and He will be our rear guard, we just need to wait on Him.
