There are very few things that last forever. No matter how educated we are, no matter how many houses we have, or cars or boats. It doesn’t matter how many degrees are behind your name. It doesn’t matter how many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren you have. None of those things really matter at the end of the day because the only thing that has absolutely no end is the kingdom of God. Absolutely nothing else has an infinite deadline. Everything else has an expiration date.

Jesus Christ came for a multitude of reasons, but the number one reason that we see He came was to establish His Father’s kingdom eternally, and that kingdom now rules and reigns in us, the children of God, those who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, the kingdom is within us.

That’s part of why the Lord’s prayer goes this way. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in Earth. And, what’s the earth? We’re the earth. We’re created from the dirt of the earth. Thy kingdom come in us, as it is in heaven.

The point that I’m wanting us to look at today is that the kingdom of God is the only thing that we need to anchor ourselves in. If we anchor at any place else we’re going to find ourselves really short at the end of the day when we stand before the Lord.
