Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value].
Colossians 3:2
Christ’s desire for us is so much more than we can imagine. However, we put limits on Him because of our temporal thoughts and feelings. We tend to not be able to think beyond what we are seeing with our eyes. Then we take on feelings that we don’t deserve what Christ has already set aside for us. Beyond these thoughts come our doubts, doubts that show we don’t truly believe Christ is capable to deliver.
Jesus has assured us that He is more than capable. His Word is truth and every promise something that we can stand on. We must stop putting into focus those things in the here and now that are our current concerns and issues. Lay them aside and remember who Christ is. He is the almighty God, He is our Father, and He is right here with us and loves us as His own.
Christ has more than enough to give us, and everyone else, what He has promised. It doesn’t matter whether we know how He will accomplish this task, we must take Him at His Word, knowing that He has the ability to do everything that He says.
So, we must get ourselves out of our own head and thinking. We must focus instead on Christ and kingdom things. When our focus is on what it should be, everything else seems to be much clearer.
