A soft and gentle and thoughtful answer turns away wrath, But harsh and painful and careless words stir up anger.

Proverbs 15:1

Jesus understands and knows how hard it can be to NOT react to someone’s hurtful words. He is reminding us who we are. We are His hands and feet, His voice to those who know no other. Even though this may not be our first thought in a situation, we must remain in Jesus and allow His Spirit to overwhelm us and speak for us. We must quickly go to Jesus so He can guide us. There is no need to become like others.

Jesus asks us to stand up and be different so that His light can shine brightly. Others may not recognize Him or His love immediately, but they will recall that encounter again. Let them see Jesus in us and be reminded of how different that encounter really was. Allow Jesus His way within in our lives so that the seed can be planted and cultivated. He will send someone else across their path to nurture that seed and water it a little.

It doesn’t end here. Our words can be the start of something much bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to allow Jesus to use you for something more?
