For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Hebrews 8:12
We sometimes feel so much remorse or shame over our sin that we repent of the same sin countless numbers of times. A problem many believers have is keeping our sin in the forefront of our memory. We tend to rehearse the wrongs we have done and that only produces torment and guilt. The truth is, when we ask God to forgive us for the forty-fifth time, He says, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” If He forgets our transgressions, so should we.
