If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.

John 15:7

Sometimes we over complicate things and sometimes God’s Word is taken out of context and twisted for personal purposes. Think this through as a father to child would. This will help us to understand God’s heart better. He desires us to be unified with Him. To be one with Him every moment of the day. When we get to this place with Jesus, we become different and so does our understanding.

Jesus wants us to see how He sees and know His heart. When this happens what we want and desire changes. We can see the bigger picture and how our needs change as well, and we end up wanting and desiring those things that Jesus does. This is why Jesus can confidently tell us to ask whatever we wish and it will be given to us.

Here’s another example. If our own child asks for $100 so they can go out with friends who you know are a bad influence, are you going to give them the $100? I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t, because it’s not for their good. What if they asked you for $100 so that they could take an online class to learn a programming language? Would you give them the $100 then? Yes, you would, because you can see the good that can come from the money spent and how it will grow your child. This last “ask” lines up with your desire for your child. This concept is the same with Father God.

So, ask and Father will give you whatever you wish.
