There are so many things that we can learn from the life of Abraham. But I want us to particularly look at this in Romans chapter four.
Without becoming weak in faith he considered his own body, now as good as dead [for producing children] since he was about a hundred years old, and [he considered] the deadness of Sarah’s womb.
Romans 4:19
And we can say he considered not his own body. Now dead. Abraham had been promised a son. He was now nearly 100 years old, his wife about ten years younger. Neither of them able to bear children, but God had promised them a child. And looking at his natural body, if he even looked at his natural body 10 seconds, he would have talked himself out of the Word of God.
He considered not his own body. He didn’t look at the options. Rather, he didn’t take any care at all about the options. It’s just not a possibility that this word won’t come to pass because God said so. If God said so, if you find it in your Bible, if you can go to a chapter and verse and see a promise from the Lord, there is absolutely nothing, nothing that can stop that promise from coming to you except your unbelief.
And how do you get in unbelief? You keep looking at the other options.
