In the new birth, the spirit-man is made a new creature.
Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…
2 Corinthians 5:17
It is the spirit of man that is recreated at the new birth, not the soul man or the physical body. The spirit man is the part of our being that is like God…created in His image. This new man…this recreated spirit-man should dominate our thinking processes, our emotions and our body, yet many who are saved, and even filled with the Holy Spirit are spiritual babies because the only thing that dominates their life is whichever carnal lust is screaming the loudest at the time. To become spiritually mature we must discipline ourselves to crucify the lusts of our flesh.
